Self supported coils come in handy when your application has limited space and can’t accommodate a bobbin. It is also useful in getting the winding as close as possible to the metal in your circuit thereby giving you greater magnetic capabilities. This type of coil would be wound on a mandrel and would be wound using a bond-able magnet wire. The bonding of the magnet wire can be accomplished by heat in an oven or through induction as well as by using various solvents. Our self supported coils can be found in motor clutches and magnetic locks as well as in audio and frequency isolation circuits. We have the ability to produce the exact mandrel or winding arbor to produce the most exacting self supporting coil applications.
